Public Input
Why you should get involved?
Do you have an opinion on how the city should grow? Are there certain things you would like to see in South Lake Tahoe in the future? Are you concerned about issues like adequate housing, job growth, transportation, and the environment? Then help plan the future of South Lake Tahoe!
The public outreach program extends throughout the General Plan Update effort and provides interested parties numerous opportunities to participate in the update process and express their opinions about the future of South Lake Tahoe. It is the City's desire to reach a broad spectrum of the community, including residents, landowners, businesses, service groups, ethnic groups, youth, seniors, and various stakeholders groups.
How to get involved!
The following are several ways that interested parties can follow or participate in the General Plan Update:
Newsletters
The City will periodically publish newsletters during the General Plan Update that will inform the community on the progress of the GPU and announce upcoming meetings and publications of milestone reports. The newsletters will be published in hard copy form and made available on-line.
Community Workshops
The City will hold community workshops at several points in the process to gain input on issues and opportunities, alternatives, and the General Plan documents. Dates will be posted on the Workshops & Meetings page when they are scheduled.
Website
This General Plan Update website will be regularly updated with information on the status of the project.
E-Updates
The City will build a database of e-mail addresses collected from various sources (e.g., General Plan Update website, stakeholder interviews, community workshops, and other sources) and send out e-mails to the entire contact list during key points in the process to keep the community current on the Update process, maintain their interest, and create greater turn-out for community workshops and other outreach efforts.
